Driving at Night

Downtown Austin at Sunset

Last Sunday, I went to take a few photos of downtown Austin around sunset. I was facing towards east, away from the sunset, which sometimes results in an extremely pink sky. Unfortunately, I was a little late, and I missed the most colorful moment. I kept taking photos non-stop for around 15 minutes, and the colors were different every minute. Here are 3 photos a few minutes apart:

State Quarters

I’ve been collecting the state quarters for the past ten years, and today I received the Hawaii quarter, which completes the set. Click on the photo to see a ten megapixel version.

Newport Pell Bridge - Rhode Island

My company installed an E-ZPass toll collection system on the Newport Pell Bridge in Rhode Island. I was up there for 6 days, and while I didn’t have much free time, I did take a few photos. I especially liked how the full moon reflected off of the water in the bay.

If I had a chance to retake this photo, I’d take it at an angle so that you can read the “E-ZPass Applications” sign. Click on the picture to see a few more photos from my trip.

Snow in Austin

I’ve been living in Austin for about three and a half years, but today was the first day I saw real snow. It was the slow falling kind that filled up the sky, but as soon as it hit the ground it melted. I decided that this was a rare enough event that was worth a 5 minute drive to downtown for some photos. I figured I’d find some Christmas lights and maybe get the Capitol building or my truck in the picture. Unfortunately, by the time I made it to my destination, there was just ice and rain. Even though I didn’t capture the snow, I was happy with the pictures because the lights reflecting off of the wet road look interesting.
